The Essence of Petaling Street

In the previous Pudu outing, SuzailanJai, Andy Jamil, Razif Hadi and ahmadjaa were late as the shops and stalls were starting to pack their things up to call it a day. We had decided to revisit this area for another night street outing particularly in Petaling Street  and this time we were earlier than before.

We met up at 6 pm, around Putra LRT Station Masjid Jamek area. While waiting for the maghrib (evening) Prayer, we strolled down around this territory, before heading to the mosque. It was wet and chilled as the rain on and off through the evening. At a time it was heavy rain and sometime it just drizzles.

Petaling Street (Malay: Jalan Petaling, Chinese: pinyin: Cíchǎng Jiē, Cantonese: Chee Cheong Kai) is a Chinatown located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is infamous for pirated clothes and accessories along with bootleg DVDs and CDs. Petaling Street however does not exclusively offer pirated products. Haggling is a common sight here and the place is usually crowded with locals as well as tourists.

The area has dozens of restaurants and food stalls, serving local favourites such as Hokkien mee, ikan bakar (barbecued fish), asam laksa and curry noodles. Traders here are mainly Chinese but there are also Indian, Malay and Bangladeshi traders. – source wikipedia.

It is acknowledged that the Petaling Street is a favourite spot for the people to enjoy the delightful of night life in Kuala Lumpur. Despite of selling local attires and accessories, it also offers many varieties of local cuisines. For the tourists who have come to visit Kuala Lumpur, walking down on this street and go shopping along the way is a must. Otherwise their travel journey in here is considered incomplete.

We enjoy ourselves during our outing within this territory. Our trip was really worth it, as we had the chance to capture what was really happening in Kuala Lumpur after the daylight. It is one of a very unique place where we can see so many people from different walk of life come together to enjoy the very essence of Petaling Street.

We will come back with exploration to the other part of the city. Stay tune and enjoy the show!
