Motocross at SIC

I never did a 2-wheel or motocross sport photography. Malaysia 4×4 Jamboree 2012 was one of the best events for many outdoor sport challenges related to car, atv, rally and motocross. I had a short time only at their motocross track during Malaysia 4×4 Jamboree and managed to get few shots. Now, I already fall in love at this sport especially for photography and may be personal free time ride in future.

As usual, I like panning shot which better indicates the action of the subject, thus low shutter speed is required. However, without any filter to cut out the excessive light on sunny day, there is a trade off on the aperture. As an example, the following photo uses an f/18 in order to get the 1/80s shutter speed which is adequate to do a panning.

Front view is also worth to try to get the different perspective, so I tried the 70-300mm. Using this lens, I need to get further back from the subject to get the full shots of the rider, thus minimizing the chances to get the blurred background. I was actually missed many shots due to the slow focussing of the 70-300mm.

Until then, happy shooting..!
