Recently, on October 13th, 2012, Razif Hadi and ahmadjaa had the time to join the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk 2012 which was led by Raja Indra Putra (Ripi) that took place around Bukit Bintang territory. This is the 5th annual photo walk which was held worldwide. Anyone can join the walk with any kind of camera. And of course, there is no admission fee. It is free of charge.
We parked our bikes somewhere around Jalan Sultan Ismail near to Pavilion Mall before walking towards the meeting place as it was closer to our final gathering point.

We began our day with Ripi gave a briefing to us about the walk, some safety issues and most importantly, to have fun shooting for that day. For your information, Ripi is one of the many inspiring streets and travel photographer here in Malaysia. He is a great guy, well organised and he definitely has taken a good care of all the participants.

The walk started off at Jalan Nagasari and its surrounding before we headed towards Jalan Bukit Bintang area and finally around the Pavilion Mall. Everyone had to gather back, at one of the cafe located in Pavilion Mall to quench their thirst and we had some chit chat before wrapping all things up.
After another short briefing, Ripi gave us the freedom to move around and shoot anything that we wanted. Some of us would meet up at certain points, or just gathered at the last checkpoint at the given time frame.

Walking along Jalan Nagasari and making a turn into Changkat Bukit Bintang in the early morning was a fun thing to do as there were not many people around at that time. We took the opportunity to give an appreciation to the details of the old buildings located there.
Most of the shops here are luxurious fine dining restaurants and cafes which operates mainly in the evening, but there are some that do open up during lunch hour. At night, this place and its surrounding usually will be packed with people and very lively. The row of buildings here mostly are older than many of us, despite some of them that have undergone a make over from the classic looks to a more modern facades.

As the clouds were getting darker by the time we were along Changkat Bukit Bintang area, we knew we have to move faster. The storm was just around the corner and as we were noticing it, the others had rushed and hastened their paced to Jalan Bukit Bintang. We were quite slow as we were among the last flocks of people during the walk and so we carry on with our exploration within this radius.

Finally, the heavy rains started. We then took a break at a small stall somewhere along Jalan Tong Shin as Razif’s camera was not weather-sealed (he might be getting one later ). The heavy downpour took sometime before it slowed down. While waiting for the rain to stop, we had a cup of hot tea as a refreshment.

After the rain had stopped, we then continued our walk towards Pavilion Mall. Capturing photos during the rainy day was challenging as we had to be more cautious due to the slippery condition of the road. We also needed to protect our equipments from the rain as well. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience.

Bukit Bintang or also known as Star Hill, is a landmark for the tourists as a shopping heaven, a Nirvana for the money-spender. It is located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur and is easily accessible by using various means of public transportations.

We reached our endpoint of the walk – the Pavilion Mall at 12 o’clock sharp. It was still raining and thus we could see many people walking with umbrellas heading to their own destination. We had a few shots in front of the mall before joining the others at the Coffee Bean cafe.

It was a great experience for us that day, as this was our first time participating for the infamous Scott Kelby’s Photo Walk. We met new friends and had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and skills in terms of photography.

After having a good time with the members of the photo walk, it was the time to call it a day. We went to the place where we parked our bike. The rain still not stopped and we have to wait for awhile until it is safe to take a ride home.
