The photo was captured a day before Eid/Aidilfitri this year, and as usual the sunrise at Mengabang Telipot in Kuala Terengganu was sublime.
East coast of Malaysia is definitely among the best places in Malaysia for photographing sunrise and seascapes. If you are happen to be there, wake up early, head up to the nearest beach asap (for me, just after the Subuh prayer). Normally the weather will be excellent except during the monsoon season (December till February) and your effort will be rewarded with a spectacular nature showcase which is the sunrise.
Oh, and don’t forget to bring your camera and tripod. As for myself, I usually bring along my E-3 or E-P3, ZD 9-18mm, Cokin P ND8 Grad Filter and also the ZD 70-300mm.
Quick tips | If you want to know the exact time for sunrise, grab the local newspaper and look for the (Muslim) local prayer time and take note the “Syuruk” column which refers to the minute the sun rises from the horizon.
